I have a problem with an inconsistency (between RiscOS 3 and RiscOS 4) on the way !WebJames handles requests for pages with a filename length longer than 10 charaters.
On RiscOS 3 a request for default.htm (longer than 10 characters) will be completed if the file default.ht exists.
On RiscOS 4 (and hence on VRPC-SE), !WebJames returns an error 404 (file not found) unless the file exists with the longer name with 11 characters.
As my website is of such a size that manually changing all of the filenames is daunting and quite likely error prone, does anyone know of a way of either:
- telling !WebJames to truncate all page requests to a 10 character limit.
or
- telling RiscOS 4 (or VRPC-SE) to limit filename lengths 10 characters?
-----------------------------------
Incidently, the RISC OS 3 User Guide supplied with VRPC-SE did not help me track down the problem

My only suggestion would be to use one of the bulk file-renamer tools (e.g namer, renamer) to rename your files.
