However, one thing which I liked after the upgrade was a menu at shutdown time which asked whether I wanted to reset or return to Windows. Where has this gone? I guess it is some Risc OS code fragments.

Wel, further investigation shows that this menu is only displayed if the 'HostServices' module (loaded from the 'portable' 'podule') is NOT present. When this is present (as it will be for power saving enabled) the extra menu is not displayed.

Any reason for this? Any chance of a fix?

Many thanks,
Michael

Thanks. That works. In fact all that was wrong was that there were a few configuration lines missing in the Model.cfg file entitled [HostServices]. Adding this to my own setup brought back my old stuff, with the power management.

However, one thing which I liked after the upgrade was a menu at shutdown time which asked whether I wanted to reset or return to Windows. Where has this gone? I guess it is some Risc OS code fragments.

RISCOS 4 doesn't support all the possible shutdown options and once
power management is installed the closed down dialogue doesn't
work any more. You could try installing the RISC OS Select version
of the TaskManager from the "SelectSupport" directory, but note
that this is not intended for RISC OS 4 and neither VA or
RISCOS Ltd can guarantee what it will do on OS4.

As I said before, it may not be intended for RO4, but it works!

Glad it's working OK, I have had a look and so far the only oddity I have found is that the Info window from the Task Manager reports that you are running RISC OS Select, but of course it's still only RISC OS 4. I would still reiterate that the new Task Manager is really intended for RISC OS Select. However it was written by RISCOS Ltd, and they do have many years experience with RISC OS and are well known for developing robust code that works exceptionally well.

Many thanks for the tips about setting up ADFS filing and booting from there. I followed the instructions about configuring, and have a new virtual IDE disc, copied !Boot into it (without !ARMovie as it was too big for the disc) and Sibelius worked ok.
However, each time I now start VA I get an error message saying
File syncClock not found. does this matter? How can I correct this error?
In fact, I have this file twice, once each in
ADFS::HardDisc4.$.!Boot.Choice.Boot.Predesk
ADFS::HardDisc4.$.!Boot.Choice.Boot.Tasks
Note that both the original and the new IDE disc are called HardDIsc4; this is the new IDE HardDisc4 with the copied !Boot

Also, although Sibelius did work, I now get the corrupted message again, and a new Discs icon on the icon bar, which is ShareFS
I would appreciate any further advice on how to sort these problems. Sibelius DID work, so I know it is possible. Many thanks

The SyncClock error is weird and has turned up on a few machines, the module from Predesk isn't loaded, so edit the SyncClock file in

!Boot.Choices.Boot.Tasks

to read

RMLoad !Boot.Choices.Boot.Predesk.Syncclock
Synclock 5

(to edit the file hold down SHIFT and double click on it to load it into a text editor). Now save the edited file and the error will go away.

As for the other points I don't know what has happened.

Thanks for the advice, both here and by direct email. All the errors are now gone, and I can even print from Sibelius. Thanks.
