Hi,
I've been trying to use the RISC OS svn port with the DeskLib sources. This works fine when I download to a ram disc, but when I download to a location on the hard disc I get the following:
Code:
*set svn$filetypeext ""
*svn co svn://svn.riscos.info/DeskLib/trunk/ programming/desklib
A    programming/desklib/!DLUser
A    programming/desklib/!DLUser/MakeHelp,fd7
[i][snip][/i]
A    programming/desklib/!DLUser/Makefile
A    programming/desklib/!DLUser/!Run,feb
svn: In directory 'programming/desklib/!DLUser'
svn: Can't move 'programming/desklib/!DLUser/MakeHelp,fd7.tmp' to 'programming/desklib/!DLUser/MakeHelp,fd7': 'programming.desklib.!DLUser.MakeHelp,fd7/tmp' not found

As you can see, it falls over with an error. That it works on a ram disc suggests a HostFS problem. Can anyone else replicate this or suggest a solution?
Thanks,
Adam

Sorry, it's VRPC 1.3. How do I find out the HostFS version?
I don't know if it's OK on ADFS - how would I find out?
The iSV patch is not running.

I wanted to know which version (SE, SA, Adjust, AdjustSA)
To find out which version of HostFS press F12 and type *Help HostFS
As for ADFS, how would you find out? Answer try it!

Um, well, I don't have an ADFS hard disc, I've got an NTFS one - that's why I'm using Virtual Acorn and HostFS. I think you've lost me.
As I said before, it all works fine on RamFS so doesn't that point to there being a problem with HostFS?

OK, so it;s Adjust. I realise that this is the Adjust forum but, speaking from experience, it's easy to accidentally post to the wrong one.
Anyway the HostFS (I assume) is up to date and I assume all the upgrades have been applied.
With regard to ADFS, if you haven't got an ADFS disc set up, then set one up. Double click on !Boot, go to Discs, go to ADFS discs, set the number of Harddiscs to 1, click on set, hey presto an ADFS harddisc appears on the iconbar.

Ooh, snazzy! OK I've done that, and everything works fine to the ADFS disc.

So... any hope of a fix? The person who ported SVN has suggested that it might be relatively simple:
"My guess then is that HostFS is thinking ,fd7/tmp is an extension, whereas it should really only be treating it as an extension if it is exactly 3 hexadecimal digits after the comma."

It's not quite as easy as that, as the file name has a comma and a /tmp afterwards as well. We can certainly add it to the problem list, however there are always some things that HostFS will not be able to do (for example some protected applications such as FontDirPro and Sibelius) expect all systems to be FileCore based.

Has any progress been made towards resolving this?
It's causing me problems as well now. Trying to develop software and thinking you are doing something wrong when in fact you aren't is somewhat frustrating!
I'm guessing not too many people have raised this as an issue so I thought I would bring it up again.
It's a real shame that VRPC suffers from filing system issues like this as it is otherwise a wonderful emulation. I can appreciate not being able to emulate certain hardware that some software might rely on, but is this not a software issue in the way Windows filenames are being interpreted by VRPC itself which is causing an incompatability with RISC OS?
I really don't want to go down the ADFS partition route as it means reorganising things more than I would like.
Presumably the Mac version suffers in the same way? Does anyone know?

Having now got the Mac version out or beta we want to try and have a look at HostFS. However I can't gaurantee that this particular issue will be easily resolved.
I run SVN from an ADFS harddisc image myself.

It's good to hear that you'll be looking at HostFS, thanks for the update.
