My iMac was one of those on which VRPC would not recognise its unlock key after Mac OS X 10.5.7. The dual key work around fixes that, VRPC does always start up now. Unfortunately it has become apparent that ShareFS can fail after a restart of the Mac. ShareFS on the Mac does not see other ShareFS's on the LAN and other RISC OS platforms cannot see VRPC on the iMac.

I believe this problem will only arise on machines that needed the extra unlock key fix, others should be unaffected.

More information is needed:

So ShareFS works sometimes/occasionaly?
What happens when ShareFS doesn't start? Are there any error messages?
Does Internet access still work on the VirtualRPC when ShareFS doesn't?

Have you reversed the changes you made to the Mac when trying to get VRPC running yourself?

ShareFS works with the same frequency that VRPC would have started up prior to the unlock fix, which is not very often.

There are no error messages either from RISC OS or from the iMac. All that happens is that only the local shares are seen in VRPC's ShareFS 'Show discs' window and the iMac/VRPC shares are not seen in the Iyonix or other machines.

Yes

I had previously tried a few things that did permit VRPC to start before the fix was issued. One of these involved removing network interfaces that were not required, though that worked in that VRPC always started it also had a side effect that ShareFS did not work, as it was something of a failure the iMac was put back to as it was.

Prior to any of this I have had rare instances of ShareFS not working, rebooting everything got it back.
