I'm posting here as I use VRPC on a MBP, and sometimes wish to transfer files between that and a RiscPC.

I can do this using FTPc between a PowerBook running Tiger, but the MBP connection doesn't seem to be right. All the parameters are set as correctly as far as I can see, fixed IP agreeing with the host config in Risc OS. Would the name of the MBP be a problem? It has (3) after it.

Is this just Snow Leopard not working the same as Tiger, in other words it will never work, or am I missing something?

TIA

Sorry you are having a problem.

You can't PING from RISC OS running under VirtualRPC on the Mac. So can the Mac and the RPC ping each other OK?

There are no settings that need changing under RISC OS. The networking comes pre-setup. So if you have made any networking changes from the RISC OS !Boot Configure tool, then this could be the cause of the problem.

Thirdly, the version of FTPc that ships with the VirtualRPC is correctly set up. If you are using a different version then ensure that "Passive" mode is set in FTPc's options.

I haven't tried pinging, but the RPC was getting through to the MBP as FTPc showed it was connecting. It just never completes the connection, although it works with a PowerBook running Tiger, with no problems.

I only added the MBP in the host list, didn't change the Risc OS settings otherwise on the RPC.

The IP is fixed, and I have checked that is correct according to the host entry.

Thanks for the reply. If anything else occurs to me I'll post it, but it really is a mystery. I checked that the file sharing and FTP access is set the same in the MBP as for the PB.
