Has anyone tried VRPC on the new Mac OS 10.7 Lion yet?
(I would have preferred to have written nothing here but the machine said that nothing was no good!)

Yes!
I've only used if for about an hour so far, but everything seems to be okay!

Currently I have no open support tickets for OS X Lion.

However my advice whenever a new OS is launched is to wait for the first round of bugs to be fixed before updating a machine.

I have been using it for a little while with no major problems. Can't get the new version of !Flicker to run, but the other programs seem to run okay.

I can't get it to run properly, all I can get is a small window containing RISC OS Boot menu and the only option in it that works X exit to desktop which gives a another small window displaying the Acorn desktop. The display manager will pop up but cannot be changed. when I try to access the the pop up task menu it tells me that the 'Filing system or path BootResources not present

Sounds like your VirtualRPC installation has got corrupted.

Try re-installing VirtualRPC from your original CD over the top of the current non-working installation.

Make sure you have your unlock code handy as you will need to unlock the VirtualRPC after installation.

Ah! Thank you - that worked. But now another problem has arisen - When I tried to re-install Ovation Pro it wouldn't work, when I looked inside the Directory I found that all the file types had changed to text.

How did you try and re-install OvationPro? Where the Ovation Pro files stored on a memory stick or somesuch? Or were the files copied over the network? We need to try and work out what has happened.

In the mean time there is a handy utility in 'HostFS::Harddisc4.$.Filing' called !TypeFind. This will try and work out what filetype a file should be and to set the filetype as appropriate. Just double click to run !TypeFind and then drag a file to the !TypeFind icon on the iconbar.

I suspected that was the case :)

The memory stick is probably FAT32 formatted. The Ovation files have been copied to the stick directly and have hence lost their RISC OS filetypes. If you ever want to transfer RISC OS files via a memory stick then make sure the files are stored inside a RISC OS formated archive created by a RISC OS application such as !Zipee, !SparkFS, !ArcFS etc...but not !Squash.

Yes. Only problem so far is that shutdown>restart doesn't work. A small black VA window appears on the desktop.

Pressing any key resolves that issue here. (The downside may be that this might not work for some.)

It worked for me. Why didn't I try that?

I've had reports that the shutdown->restart does work. In one report there was a long delay (>1minute) before anything happened. Another report suggested a delay of approx 30 seconds.
