I discovered that I need the module Call ASWI, which does not come with VA.

So I went to the Castle website and downloaded it, but was unable to install it.

Castle suggest that users of Risc OS 3.1 download the entire package Tbox/zip and install it. It contains Call ASWI.

Query: should VA5000 users follow their advice?

If Castle say that their toolbox modules are RISC OS 3.1 compatible, and if you trust Castle to make that assertion, then install the update. Note however that some very old C programs may throw a wobbly.
