Hi,
Having some problems with VA5000 today. Had it fired up and running, clicking on a Spark'd archive and the whole app crashed spectacularly. Now on booting up all I get is either a red screen and a "droning" noise (for about 20 seconds) and/or a message :
Error: File ':0.!Boot' not found (Error number &D6)
I can type *hostfs and then see the disc ok.
What am I missing?
Thanks

Sounds like your CMOS has been corrupted. Try this - from the command line type
*Con. FileSystem HostFS
*Con. Boot
*Con. Drive 0
press return after each line - now quit and re-load VA5000 - or the easy way if you have a late VA5000 - run the CMOS restore program on the CD.

Hi,
Thanks for this. I've tried it but sadly still no go.
The only thing that I found to work when I had this problem before was a complete re-install
:-(

The problem is probably that the extensions file has become corrupted on VA5000 crashing. The only solution is to reinstall VA5000.
Then I would recommend keeping a backup copy of the new extensions file. It can be found, looking from Windows, in \Program Files\VirtualAcorn\VirtualA5000\Plugins\Hostfs. In fact I would keep a copy of the whole folder. The appropriate files can then be copied to replace the corrupted files if you should have the problem again.
