wasn't sure which forum to put this question in ... this seems like the closest fit ...

I have all my old floppies converted to .adf format.

What tools do I need to extract files from the .adf images and make them into PC files.

e.g. I have some text files in some of my .adfs that I would like to convert to PC .txt files so that I can look at them in Notepad

any ideas? thanks.

edit: they are 800k adfs discs converted into .adf by the way

never mind ... I figured it out

I can decompress ADFs into windows files by just copying them to the 'virtual hard drive' in virtualrpc (i.e. "hard drive 4") - they then become real files on the PC hard drive.

Reading a BASIC file as a Text file proved to be a bit harder, as is turns out they are stored in a strange format.

However this blog post:
http://xania.org/200711/bbc-basic-v-format
by Matt Godbolt gave me pointers on how to parse the file and convert to ascii text.
