Previously with my RiscOS 3 computers the Icon Bar did not keep puttting itself on top of my windows.

With RiscOS 4, it keeps hiding a couple of small windows placed there specifically to hide the Icons underneath (for a special purpose application).

I can not find how to return the system to the behaviour of RiscOS 3. :(

What am I missing?

Under RISC OS 4 the iconbar jumps to the front if the Mouse Pointer is held on the bottom line of the display. Once the mouse is moved above the iconbar area then the iconbar drops back behind the window stack.

Do I assume from that answer, that there is no way of stopping it? :(

There is probably a setting to control this behaviour somewhere. I've never looked as I find this very useful. I would have a look from the command line.

However putting small windows in front of iconbar icons sounds like a bit of a hack. Are you trying to disable various icons, such as the Task Manager? If so then this can be done as I did it with iSV Products DeskLock a long time ago.

It is for a special purpose application - operated (in shifts) by people who know nothing about RiscOS.

No not trying to disable anything - I just want my window on top, otherwise the keyboard caret dissapears :(

Unless anybody else has a quicker idea, I will just have to delve into the OS.
