Hi

Seems you cant create a file consisting of the single character / (slash) on the hostfs filesystem. If you try you get the error 'a directory with that name already exists'

Yes it's a strange filename, but it is valid on ADFS filesystems on real hardware and in the ram disc on VRPC-SE!

Well, it isn't ADFS so there are going to be some incompatibilities. / would get translated to '.' which although you can't see it on windows, does exist, as does '..' I wouldn't recommend creating any file beginning with /

Well yes, "." in windows really means 'current directory', but as "/" is valid in RISC OS it really should be allowed somehow in VRPC.

I wont say that many programs will use this, but I know atleast one that does!

Sometimes we run into a program that doesn't work on HostFS (for example Sibelius has a copy protection system that requires RISC OS to boot from a filecore filing system). This is why we provide the option to enable an ADFS hard disc image in VirtualRPC-SE.
