I have been given (work related loan not a gift!) a brand new dell inspiron that I want to install VA-SE Adjust on (when I upgrade!). The Inspiron comes with DVD+/CD burner as standard but no floppy!
Apparently, dell's policy is that no one wants/needs a built in floppy any more 'cos they can use memory sticks or buy a usb drive if necessary! "That's why you've got three USB2 ports as standard!"
Does any one know if it's possible to install Style (and other floppy based programmes) without a direct floppy (can VA-SE Adjust cope with a USB floppy?)?
If not, can this be made a VERY (!!) high priority for improvements PLEASE as it could see this problem become "a deal breaker" if other companies follow suit!!

I'm a old RISC OS user returning back to the fold.
Do you have a real RISC OS Machine (e.g. RiscPC)?

If so, you can make disk images of Style and load them into Virtual RPC

Regretfully external USB drives are hardware fixed to read DOS format floppies only, we have spent some time on this and it seems that only IDE floppy drives can be pursuaded to read RISC OS floppies. :(

Having said that you could try zipping up a copy of Style on a real machine and sticking it on a DOS floppy which could be read on an external drive, that certainly works for Publisher (provided you copy overthe other files hidden inside !System)
