After installing the floppy disk driver my Windows machine will not re-boot.

The symptom is that it starts its boot sequence, goes as far as the Windows logo with the small progress bar underneath it and then goes into black screen (which it usually does momentarily) but never comes out of black screen.

Everything (apart from floppy access) works fine if the floppy driver is uninstalled.

Any ideas?

My configuration is: Shuttle SN41G2 small form factor desktop machine with AMD Athlon processor, Award BIOS, on-board floppy controller and internal floppy drive. Running Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2

Just a quick note to say we have found the problem. It was caused by an iPod. It seems that if you have an iPod it shouldn't be connected to the PC when the floppy driver is installed.

The iPod software can be installed on the PC, but the physical cable connection shouldn't be connected.
