My XP box threw a wobbly yesterday, and I should point out it was my fault
for messin' not XPs fault.
After much work everything is back up and working with the exception of
one item... VRPC-SE
I have two versions installed on the machine in different places/hardrives.
The first is a Virgin copy as installed with RO4.02 and patches.
The second on another HD, was a Virgin install now updated to Select 4.39
from my Select subscription.
Though they were working before the mishap, now after getting everything
else working again, neither of them will run.
Leaving Windows reporting:
"Acorn RiscPC emulator with RISCOS 4 has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Now that's about as much use as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick...
Does anyone have any thought what might be happening?
Cheers
Dave S

In the meanwhile...
I did a new virgin install, but that won't run either, reporting the same error message.

It's difficult to know why this is happening. If you re-installed Windows did you remember to re-install your sound drivers? It might be best to ring me.

Thanks for the suggestion Aaron.
I have now resolved the problem, and the versions of VRPC are working okay.
No I didn't reinstall Widows, went in by SafeMode Bootup, did a bit of manual reconstruction...
It seems that after the XP wobbly and my reconstruction, my XP user profile had a corruption somewhere... Everytime the PC was booted, it moaned but then worked okay.
I've spent a lot of time trying to work out just what and where, but in the end gave up as I have other things that need attention... Like life and especially a Wife.
Funny thing is, in the end, I created a new profile for myself and just copied all the old Doc and setiings stuff into the new User... Including the three Ntuser... files... Everything including VRPC is cured.
Guess it might be a corrupt (my original) User profile entry in the Registry, but I don't want to ge there ATM... Don't have the time.
Thanks for the input anyway Aaron, it was appreciated.
cheers
