Dear all,

I've just installed VRPC-SE but can't get my email to work. POPStar requires the SocketWatch module, but once that is loaded the internet doesn't work at all. Without the module, Netsurf will connect OK.

Does anyone have any ideas as not being able to use email is a bit of a fundamental problem!

Nigel

Can anyone help with this? Email is/was one of the main uses of my RiscPC so if I can't get this to work I'm stumped.

I am not aware of there being many issues with Mail clients and/or fetching mail on VirtualAcorn products. But I don't use RISC OS for e-mails and never have. So I can only offer the following broad advice:

1. Make sure everything you are using is up to date.
2. Double check that everything is set up corretly.
3. If you are using MessengerPro then it's worth asking R-Comp.
4. Take a look at Paul Vigay's (he's sadly missed) networking guides.

Hello Aaron,

Thanks for the suggestions. Taking each in turn:
1) Yes, I've re-downloaded the most recent POPStar, including the SocketWatch module a couple of times.
2) As far as I can tell, it is
3) I do use MessengerPro, but the problem is very specific to POPStar, which is not an rcomp product so I'm not sure how they'd be able to help.
4) I'm a bit confused by this one - you've expressly said before NOT to alter the networking settings. And, besides, the networking works (e.g. browsing the internet with NetSurf) until I load the SocketWatch module.

Thanks a lot for your help.
Regards,
Nigel
