Problems connecting with ShareFS

VirtualRPC installs with all the correct networking settings. If you have altered the RISC OS networking settings this will be the most likely cause of the fault. You need to either reverse the changes or you will have to delete the RISC OS !Boot sequence and then re-install VirtualRPC.

If your PC includes a firewall you will need to ensure that VirtualRPC has full networking access. If, for some reason, that's not possible you will need to enable the network ports that are used by ShareFS so that they are not blocked. These ports are UDP 49152, UDP 49171, UDP 32771 & UDP 32770.

If ShareFS still isn't working you will need to check that all the PCs on the network are configured to the same IP group e.g. 192.169.0.x (where x is between 0 and 255) and that the subnet mask is the same on each PC (normally 255.255.255.0). You can test the connections between the PCs using the Ping command. This WikiHow article has more details.
