Problems with a RISC OS application

Problems with RISC OS applications are fairly rare, most software just works, but this means that many RISC OS users don't know what to do when they encounter a problem. There are 2 major versions of RISC OS applications, 32bit and 26bit. Any version of VirtualRPC can run either. VirtualA5000 can only run 26bit software.

The first point of contact if you have a problem with an application should be the developer or publisher. They should know more about the application than anyone else. Regretfully many RISC OS developers and publishers have left the RISC OS scene over the years and their knowledge has been lost. If the application is generating an error message try typing the name of the application and the error into Google. For example : 'DrawWorksXL Abort on Data Transfer'. Hopefully someone else will have had the same problem and solved it.

If that doesn't help you could try posting to the Comp.Sys.Acorn.Apps Usenet newsgroup. If you don't have a Usenet client you can use Google Groups.
