IMPORTANT: Installing these updates

Please note that the updates on this page need to be applied in the order they are listed. The updates perform cumulative actions, so if you run updates out of sequence later updates will fail to install. So find the earliest update that you need, install that, then install all the other updates that follow, even if you don't currently feel that you need them. Before installing any updates find your CD serial number (it's printed on your CD) and check which is the earliest update you need, then install all the updates from that point onwards.

All of these updates are Windows programs. To install an update first quit VRPC, then download the update using Windows. Next find the update on your harddisc (using Windows). Then open the update (it will be in a .zip file) then finally double click on the update and follow the instructions on screen.

VirtualRPC-SA May 2006 Print Fix
This update fixes problems where although VirtualRPC-SA reports that is has printed correctly no print job comes out of the printer.

• Fixes failure to print when using a RISC OS Printer Definition File.

VirtualRPC-SA October 2006 update
This update installs a new version of HostFS2 and also updates ShowPrinters components.

• Replaces existing HostFS::HardDisc4.$.Printing.ShowPrinters with a multi-tasking version.
• Fixes the problem of random "Data Abort" messages and occasional lock ups on file transfers reported by some users.

This update is only required for copies of VirtualRPC-SA with a serial number lower than 20291-VRP.

VirtualRPC-SA January 2007 update
This update fixes a couple of issues reported by some users. This update is also designed to support the use of RISC OS 6 (either the RISC OS 6 Select 4 Preview, or RISC OS 6 supplied as part of the Select scheme) on VirtualRPC-SA. It is also designed to allow VirtualRPC-SA to run on Windows Vista.

• F1 Function key now handled correctly in the desktop.
• Fixes the problem reported with hardware scrolling when using RISC OS 6 (Select 4).

This update is only required for copies of VirtualRPC-SA with a serial number lower than 20302-VRP.

VirtualRPC-SA HostFS update Jan 2009
This update contains a new version of HostFS along with some other new components:

• New version of HostFS that preserves file datestamps when copied between HostFS mounts.
• Fix for the problem of some files listed in the HostFS extensions list appearing as text.
• Datestamps of archive files are preserved when the archive is opened and not altered.
• New HostClock plugin that stores the full date, this prevents RISC OS forgetting the current year.
• Link to the VirtualAcorn forums added to the Tutorials directory in HardDisc4.
• Instructions on setting up the HostClock added to the Tutorials directory.
• Fix for problem where some machines refused to print after the Dec 2008 update was applied.
• Fix for problem with files being saved without filetype after a printing failure.

This update is only required for copies of VirtualRPC-SA with a serial number lower than 20461-VRP.
